Sasha Alex Sloan just gets it. For those of you who have struggled with depression and anxiety your entire lives, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Just one listen to Sloan’s music and you just know she’s a kindred soul. Now, most might say that the sad girl shit is overrated, but we say, it’s about damn time!
Today is the start of a new era for the singer. With the release of new single, “WTF,” Sloan is releasing her sophomore record, I Blame The World, on May 13. We couldn’t be more ready.
“WTF” delves into some serious existential woes we all can relate to, and if you can’t you’re probably just lying to yourself. Chock full of the singer’s signature indie-pop goodness and genuine lyrical genius, “WTF” is a track for those in the throes of depression who may be questioning their existence and purpose in a world that often feels like it was designed to make us fail. Have we mentioned how much we really fucking love her?
“Welcome to ‘I blame the world.’ I’ve been calling it my coming of age album (because I’m a boomer now lol) where I started looking more outward than inward,” shared the singer on the upcoming album’s theme. “After being stuck in my house for 2+ years, I started to get really angry at everything and everyone around me. I also fell into quite the depression, which is where a lot of these songs stem from. I started asking ‘why?’ which led to songs like ‘WTF.'”
