There is no better phrase that can adequately sum up the past year and a half than, “God, it’s brutal out here!” Am I right?
The new reigning queen of pop, Olivia Rodrigo, has just unveiled her killer new music video for SOUR album opener, “brutal,” and like her other music videos, this one hits the feel of the song right on the nose. Directed by trusted friend, Petra Collins, “brutal” is an existential adventure under the span of three minutes while offering up a little tongue-in-cheek fun for good measure.
Fans of any age can relate to this one, even those of us who are horrified at the thought that while we were in high school lamenting about these same things, Rodrigo was a friggin’ infant. But that’s a whole other story! It’s a teenage dream turned upside down, but maybe that’s the reality of it all. Growing up is a scam. Wouldn’t recommend.
