I’ve never understood the notion of being amazed at teens who are wise beyond their years. Maybe it’s because it’s something I’ve heard of myself growing up – and surely I’m guilty of it from time to time as I get closer to 30 – but most of the time, I feel a sort of kindred bond with those who aren’t the same as their peers.
18 year-old Texas native, Mason Ashley, is exactly what other 18 year-olds should aspire to be. The singer-songwriter is getting ready to release her new EP, Strangers, and if lead single, “Paper Planes,” is any indication, there’s about to be a sales spike in Kleenex.
“Music is therapy for me. Sometimes songs come to me that I don’t even know where they came from and sometimes they come from built up emotion that I was never able to put into words until the pen and paper somehow allow it.”
