Texas-born, NYC-dwelling indie-pop songstress, Juliana Madrid, never fails to dazzle us. Her new track, “Not In My Lifetime,” is no exception.
Crafted during a 3 day artist retreat in upstate New York last fall organized by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett and Neon Gold’s Derek Davies, the track was co-written with Clario (who plays flute on the track), Justin Young (The Vaccines), Benjamin Ruttner (The Knocks) and James Flannigan who co-produced the track, “Not In My Lifetime” takes on a somber yet wistful vibe as Madrid recounts all of her delusions while coming back to life realizing that all of those dreams may not happen in this lifetime due to probability and flat-out pessimism.
“Not In My Lifetime” is set to be featured on Madrid’s upcoming 5-song EP.
“‘Not In My Lifetime’ is about when you take those moments to relish in the present you, and your hopes and dreams for the future you. Wishing that feeling could last forever. Then you catch yourself- the delusion you’ve been banking on for so many years becomes so obvious, reality and probability and the pessimist inside of you squashes it. Kind of letting go of hope you settle with the fact that it’s just not in your lifetime.”
