[WATCH] Honestly – “I Die On Sunset”

If you’ve been following indie-pop duo, Honestly, closely over the past two and a half years, not only do you know what’s up, but “I Die On Sunset” is probably up there in your Top 5 Honestly songs. Straying from the band’s usual 1975-esque indie meets dream-pop, “I Die On Sunset” is a trance meets EDM dream that kind of came out of nowhere but boy, are we glad it did!

Taken from the band’s expanded version of their debut album, Inside Your Eyes, Without You Beside Me, “I Die On Sunset” is meant for crying on the dance floor after falling in love too quickly and too often. The repeating notion of, “Don’t find love in LA,” uses Los Angeles as a metaphor for strong attraction in a person you just met in a rather intoxicating environment, especially when you’re young.

“We wrote ‘I Die on Sunset’ as both love letter to house music and to Los Angeles. Our first trip to LA was so pivotal for us in terms of inspiration, culture, and music taste. We wanted to write something that felt like that one week we lived on Sunset Blvd shooting music videos every day. We wanted to capture that element of inspiration and romanticism associated with someone’s first experience in LA.”

“In September we had our first official show on a rooftop in Boston during the last day of summer. All of our friends were there and it was the most electric experience. We thought that show captured the energy of the song very well. Our creative director, Stephen Cwiok, had captured so much amazing footage of that song. We had no choice but to make it the subject of its official music video. We could not be more proud of it.”
