It’s quite impossible for us to think about summer without the music of Los Angeles alt-pop band, Bad Suns, in there somewhere.
It’s an exciting time for the music world, as restrictions are starting to loosen up and artists are looking at a brighter future of touring and releasing the gems that were created in quarantine. Bad Suns are embarking on a tour with their musical heroes, Angels & Airwaves, this fall, and new track “Heaven Is A Place In My Head” will have listeners new and old hooked instantly.
“Heaven Is A Place In My Head” is upbeat, shiny, and most of all, synthy as the band was inspired by cult-classic, Twin Peaks. “[I] suddenly felt the urge to write this sugary pop punk song, dressed up in leather, glitter, 80’s synthesizers and chiming guitars,” shared vocalist Christo Bowman.
“The band had recently started experimenting with writing songs together over the internet,” adds Bowman on the making of the song. “I emailed everybody the track and we immediately began writing the lyrics and melodies on a video call. I remember falling asleep and waking up with the chorus playing over and over again in my head. I think something about the song scared us, and we tried to forget about it. We didn’t mention it for six months until our producer played us the demo and said ‘remember this?’ We all looked at each other and collectively thought, ‘This is amazing, we need to record this right now.'”
The track’s accompanying video – directed by Logan Rice – is a lovely neon cloud-covered confection that will have you craving another album as you discover important faces within the Bad Suns community.
