Paper Route just released a killer new album last week entitled, Real Emotion, and the minute I heard the interlude of “Blue Collar Daydream,” I was hooked instantly! I tend to gravitate towards dark, haunting interludes that evoke an emotional reaction, so to say this record is aptly titled would be an understatement.
The title itself plays on the notion of a human suffering in silence in a big city, possibly at a job they dislike while dwelling on the fact that they’re not living up to their full potential while city life unfolds around them. I, on the other hand, just so happened to be listening to this on a car ride home with the stars above me, haunted by the things I never said to someone I loved and held on to despite how wrong I was about us. Needless to say, it’s hard not to daydream with tracks like this.
