“I write songs about the things nobody and everybody likes to talk about” – a rather fearless and intriguing look into the mind of the 24 year-old up-and-comer who has been compared to the likes of Halsey, CHVRCHES, and Robyn. But don’t box her in just yet. There’s a lot more than meets the eye, and we are excited to watch her career progress.
“Lightswitch” is set to be featured on the singer’s upcoming EP of the same name out on March 16. An honest and heartfelt tale of the singer’s struggle with mental health issues, the track takes the listener on a journey that is sure to have you craving more.
About the track, the singer revealed, “I wrote ‘Lightswitch’ when I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder, when I was going from two weeks of depression to two weeks of mania and back again. It was a total roller coaster ride, and I couldn’t find a song that accurately described how I felt. My favorite line is ‘I’m fucking insane,’ because I think that’s one of the most honest lyrics I’ve ever written – it’s not poetic, it’s not eloquent, it’s the truth. The song overall probably gives the most insight on how my mind works on my best and worst days.”
