Indie-pop artist, Javi Jimenez, is no stranger to vulnerability. He’s been gifting listeners with heartfelt gems since the beginning of his career in 2020. However, new track “Three Cheers for 25” takes that notion up a notch, delving into the all-too-familiar journey of one’s quarter-life crisis.
Tapping into the imposter syndrome, self-awareness and existentialism that often comes when one turns 25, “Three Cheers for 25” – which we are excited to premiere today – sees Jimenez flip the narrative into hopeful optimism while navigating his struggles within the music industry.
“I wrote the chorus about a week before my actual 25th birthday. I needed a song that expressed how I felt, but couldn’t find one, so I decided to create my own. I loved the concept of ‘three cheers for 25’ and the almost comical optimism it embodies. It’s like a sarcastic and exaggerated take on the ‘this will be my year’ cliché. It’s one of those moments where you’re half-joking, yet also half-serious. I love how this kind of irony of hopeless optimism really represents my generation and our sense of humor,” shared Jimenez.
