It’s a great feeling to wake up to news of a new album release from one of your absolute favorite bands! London indie trio, The xx, are releasing their third record, I See You, on January 13. The album is the follow up from 2012’s Coexist and will feature new single, “On Hold” – an impeccably crafted ode to the one person you always thought you’d never lose until life decides to turn your entire world upside down.
As I’m sitting here listening to “On Hold” on repeat, I’m having one of those moments where I can’t believe how the most perfect songs that express everything we’ve been feeling have such perfect timing. There was someone I loved for five years. He was my person who I thought I’d have on hold, despite how nerve-racking it was to see him date just about every beautiful girl in LA. “The stars and the charts and the cards make sense only when we want them to.” Ain’t that the truth. We see what we so desperately want to believe.
