Brooklyn-based synthpop duo, Pagoda – comprised of singer/songwriter Mike Hubbard and producer Jason Finkel – are going to dazzle your ears upon first listen. Mark our words!
Writing pop songs about Hubbard’s life set to the soundtrack of shimmery modern day indie-pop meets eighties nostalgia, Pagoda just might be one of our favorite discoveries this year!
Today marks the release of the duo’s new single, “Tell Me Twice,” and it’s definitely a buzzworthy track to pin to the top of those summer playlists! Plot twist: there’s a sax solo you’re going to lose your mind over! Think: The Night Game meets Panic Division meets elements of Bad Suns!
“One guy on Submithub called us ‘Carly Rae Jepsen for dudes,’ so we’re going to run with that for a bit.” Accurate. If that doesn’t make you want to press play, check yourself.
“‘Tell Me Twice’ is about when you feel that first spark with someone new after recovering from a breakup,” shared the band. “That spark is fun, mysterious, and exhilarating, but most of all, it’s joyous; not because you hear wedding bells, but because it’s a sign that life goes on and eventually, you’ll be ok. Dust off your Moon Boots and grab that boombox…the song of the summer is here.”
