Your hearts are about to be stolen once you press play on this one, folks! If you’re into the infectious indie-pop of LANY and The 1975, meet Little Rock duo, joan, comprised of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford.
It’s all about the mom jeans, overalls and electric pianos for this duo and new track, “Love Somebody Like You,” will take you back to when you were still in diapers as your parents played music over the stereo and your only problem was figuring out what toy to fling around the room next, i.e. the good ol’ days.
While the song’s overall theme of longing and unrequited love brings us smack dab into the present, there’s no denying the comfort of those early 90’s sensibilities hidden into that synth.
“‘Love Somebody Like You’ is a song for someone that you obsess over. They seem out of reach, but you can’t help but to take a chance and go after them.”
