[Pick Of The Week] CLIFFS – “Easy Way Out”

Fate has a funny way of making things work out while bending the rules in the process. Alt/indie-rock band, CLIFFS, all have members hailing from different parts of the US but that didn’t stop them from forming and dazzling us with their infectious sound.

New track, “Easy Way Out,” dives into themes of death and suffering, but it’s not all doom & gloom. Sonically, the track is reminiscent of Wanderer meets The Ivy so epic night drives shall ensue.

“While writing ‘Easy Way Out,’ I was heavily contemplating the way we try to control our mortality in this day in age, particularly with drugs,” says vocalist Chris McConnell. “It got me thinking about the connectivity of suffering and being human, and how maybe it’s something we weren’t meant to have so much control over on our way out.”

“‘Easy Way Out’ is a graduation of sorts for us,” guitarist Steve Kovach goes on to say. “The sounds are more experimental, the lyrics are catchy but still contain a lot of depth, and within the arrangement every part plays an intentional role leaving space for one another within the sonic landscape.”
