If you were a shameless fan of High School Musical and fell in love with the solo endeavors of Ashley Tisdale, you are not alone. Since 2005, this gal has been making fans smile, dance, and sing their little Sharpay Evans loving hearts out to all things feel-good. From her 2007 debut Headstrong to 2009’s Guilty Pleasure, Tisdale was on fire living the Disney dream and now with her highly-anticipated third release, Symptoms, out sometime next year, it looks like fans are in for a dose of the real!
While her previous material may have been upbeat and fun, Tisdale makes it known that she has grown over the years and anxiety & depression does not discriminate. But make no mistake: things are about to heat up again. With new track “Voices In My Head,” the singer shares her struggles with mental illness while creating a safe haven for those struggling silently as well.
“This is the first time I’m being super vulnerable. This is me sharing my journey through anxiety and depression,” Tisdale shared with PEOPLE. “I didn’t know the anxiety symptoms I had in the past while touring. Before, I would freak out before going on stage. That was a panic attack. I had no idea what that was until I started reading about it.”
Tisdale found refuge in the studio of Goldfinger frontman and producer John Feldmann. Signed to indie label Big Noise, Tisdale is excited to share Symptoms with fans as its been nine years since her last release.
“I’m so excited for this album. I’ve been in and out of the studio for the last four years and teaming up with John Feldmann has allowed me to create the most authentic album to date. I’ve co-written every song on the album and it’s so personal to me. Looking forward to sharing it with everyone!”
