Certain bands play a huge role in our lives. Then, they somehow disappear from it only to re-surface years later. To add to the shock-value, they also usually adapt a new sound in the meantime. Talking about mighty The Used here.
Out of the blue, the band has somehow decided the most average of Thursdays is the right day to drop something new. “Over And Over Again” is stirring tension with the return as it isn’t exactly what everybody expected.
The catchy guitar riff surely rather belongs to a Marianas Trench song, but don’t let that fool you. When was the last time The Used had the same sound in different eras of theirs after all? They are still the weird kids leaving their unique mark on a song even with a new sound. The music video for the song, directed by Lisa Mann (long-time collaborator of the band), also proves it real well. The color pink, mad dreams, dance choreography, some more pink and a pantomime cake party – all there to visualize the lyrics. And don’t forget: Once an emo, always an emo.
