I’ve been a fan of Boston synthpop quartet, Bearstronaut, since 2012 when I discovered them randomly on Bandcamp. Their EP, Paradice, was a staple for me for quite a while. Cut to four years later and the band has finally released their debut album, Telecoast – a well-crafted body of work that will please even the biggest critics and 80’s enthusiasts alike.
With memorable, dance-worthy tracks like “Black Bells,” “Shadow,” and “Holding Out,” summer never sounded so good. Reminiscent of some St. Lucia tropical vibes, Telecoast is an album meant to be listened to in full during a mid-afternoon drive or while relaxing on a beach with a loved one. Personal favorite, “Begonias,” glistens as it carries the weight of a thousand thoughts in a little over two minutes while the sax solo in “Gold” is well, gold! Album highlight is without a doubt closing title track, “Telecoast,” as it showcases what the band is truly made of.
