The first time I heard Babygirl‘s “Overbored,” I was pretty jaded myself. A month later, I’m starting to get my motivation back but it’s still a struggle. With the release of the Toronto duo’s new EP, As You Wish, we’re given a new friend in the form of four telling new tracks that poignantly describe what it means to feel disengaged and quite frankly, left out.
From the ’90’s throwback vibes of opening track, “It’s Getting Late” to the aforementioned “Overbored,” listeners are given a taste of hopefully what’s to come in a full-length while “Everything’s Happening Without Me” and “Unwant You” are the heart of the EP as the intensity gets taken up a notch with an raw, honest portrayal of youth, life and love.
