Sometimes it’s fascinating how easily you can get hooked on a sound that makes you feel all kinds of calm and wholesome. We’re lucky to have the magic of the internet to stumble upon artists who happen to have that kind of vibe and a really well-founded idea of what they’re doing and trying to achieve.
Kurt Sines, who performs under the moniker Yoste (rhymes with ‘lost’), is a 22-year old singer/songwriter from Brisbane, Australia whose creative process is the furthest thing from simple. In fact, he struggles as most of us working in the creative businesss do, but he’s stepping into 2018 so very confidently.
Similar to the works of Bon Iver and James Blake, Yoste’s “Arc” is a track that displays quiet yet compelling minimalism with yearnful vocals, which give more depth and layers of emotion to the record.
“The road to ‘Arc’ is littered with almost-good-enough ideas,” Kurt says. “I was like a blocked stream and suddenly I had to get it all out at once. It was tortuous but the result was cathartic, and resulted in ‘Arc’ coming together over the course of just one day.”

Yoste’s debut EP is set to release later this year via Akira Records.
