Some of the best creative endeavors were launched during 2020’s quarantine, and whenitsmytime is definitely one of them.
Raised in Russia and backed by years of experience playing in punk and rock bands in NYC, Andrew Krivtsov sees new project, whenitsmytime, as a way to lift the weight of the world off of the shoulders of listeners while breathing new life into the already saturated genre of indie-pop.
Why the ‘whenitsmytime’ name? “Attachment leads to obsession, to prejudice and suffering, and it ultimately forms the materially infatuated societies we have all become a part of. The artist name arose from years of delving into precisely these thoughts – the journey to find truth, inner piece, purpose; the answer to the defiant question, ‘when is my time?'” shared Krivtsov.
New track, “Home,” delves into the comfort of where you grew up. As times change and places evolve, one thing that always remains is that special, nostalgic feeling you get when you reminisce on your formative years as a child, or a special moment in a place you called home once.
“Have you ever felt melancholic thinking about the places where you grow up or maybe lived for a while that you shared some special experiences in? Life moves on quickly and even if you try to return to the town you’ve been missing, you would see how much everything has changed. ‘Home’ is a reflection of living in the never stopping highway-like flow of our existence where you cannot turn back to fix things or revisit what’s left in the past.”
