Los Angeles-based emo synthpop band, The Sometimes Island – comprised of Matt Blankenship Jr., Luke Bishop, Nick Lopiano, and Bryan Mears – are chock full of eighties vibes for days! Just in time for all of those summer playlists, the band has unveiled new single, “Phantom Limb” and it’s an addictive one!
The first in a series of monthly releases, “Phantom Limb” was originally written for another artist, but Blankenship decided to keep it after seeing the crowd reactions during solo touring. Discussing behaviors of those who take more than they give, the track puts a spotlight on how it is often impossible to find the right time to call out those who are selfish.
“This is the song that brought the band together. I’m not doing this on my own any more. We’re a team now, and it’s making the past few years of solo touring feel like a weird yearbook memory,” shared Blankenship. “We all know what it’s like to be there for someone or something who doesn’t care, and isn’t there for you. How long do you put up with it?”
