The New Division has returned with third single of the year, “System Shock.” Following the success of his previous exhilarating singles, “Sequence” and “Stateside,” “System Shock” was crafted just before the pandemic after a visit to Japan and is set to be featured on TND’s forthcoming release (date TBD).
Delving into foreign territories, “System Shock” is the culmination of leaving your home and comfort zone to discover new ways of life while rethinking how we should operate moving forward from these experiences.
“I wrote a good portion of ‘System Shock’ while on a trip visiting my brother in Osaka, Japan. I felt so inspired while there; I just had to write something,” shared John Kunkel. “In many ways the initial culture shock of being somewhere completely foreign was the catalyst that drove this song. I came back to America realizing how far ahead Japan was compared to the west in many ways, and felt I needed to capture that in a song.”
