The Blessed Isles – comprised of Brooklyn/Dallas duo Nolan Thies and Aaron Closson – have a pretty interesting story behind them. After releasing their 2016 debut album, Straining Hard Against the Strength of Night, Closson began feeling unwell, leading to a brain tumor diagnosis. Like with any health emergency, future plans for the band were put on hold. After a successful surgery, Closson slowly began to work on music again with Thies, thus beginning a new era chronicling his journey.
New single, “Gone,” documents a period of uncertainty, darkness, and the fall of Closson’s marriage wrapped in a synth-laden neon cloud of hope and revival that you won’t be able to get out of your head. The track is set to be featured on the band’s upcoming EP, The Havoc, due out sometime this spring.
