Manchester, UK’s PAVÉ (pronounced pav-Ay) have been carving out their distinct musical identity since their formation in 2019. Priding themselves on being genre-fluid, the band’s new single, “nineteenfifty” is a real treat for those who dwell in dreamy soundscapes and lyrical vulnerability.
Set to be featured on the band’s forthcoming EP to be released this fall, “nineteenfifty” is unapologetically raw, blending alternative and shoegaze elements for a quite lovely concoction. Delving into thinking differently from the accepted norm at a time when that was a punishable offense, the title references the year McCarthyism first swept across America.
“‘‘nineteenfifty’ explores this historical context and questions if the battle for people’s minds persists today. It challenges whether modern culture attempts to sedate individuals into conforming to a specific way of life. The song speaks to the realization that, even after mentally escaping a constrained world, one remains physically and financially tied to it. Breaking free from this system is nearly impossible, as it shapes our ideologies and values from a young age.”
