[LISTEN] Muted Color – “Radial”

Chicago shoegaze/dreampop band, Muted Color – comprised of Tom Aparici, David Bieschke, Tyler Gargula, Brandon Montemayor and Jethro Tacuboy – will make their return with new two-track EP, Radial, on August 5 via Fever Ltd, and it just might be the band’s best material to date.

These guys just might be shoegaze’s best kept secret…but not for long. Expanding upon their atmospheric sound, title track, “Radial,” delves into the struggles of anxiety while attempting to free oneself and overcome.

“‘Radial‘ is our first release in 2 years and we wanted it to be another logical step forward for us.  To try and refine and expand upon our sound while still sounding like ourselves.  The process in itself was a crazy new experience that we were fortunate enough to be able to have, working with Fever Ltd., Kamtin and Zac Montez, who mixed and mastered the EP, everyone from top-to-bottom was fantastic to work with. It’s definitely the most collaborative project we’ve made with everyone really coming together to try and turn out the best songs we could.”

“Lyrically, this project was something that I really tried to expand my writing and them.  The title track in particular is to me about shedding some of my anxiety.  I can let my anxiety spiral and I can get in my own way a lot of the time.  So the song is just about struggling with that and trying to push past myself and freeing myself of that,” shared Montemayor.
