Rejoice! MONACO has returned! It’s been almost two years since we last heard from the alternative/indie-pop act and if you’re still bummed about the EP that never happened, you’re in for a special treat!
The Daydream EP will finally be released on June 3 and what better way to celebrate than with a new, remastered version of “Voilà?!” An eighties meets modern day indie-pop gem, “Voilà” is another romantic tale of how singer Daniel Davis met his wife and how meeting the one for you often feels like a big sigh of relief. Fans of COIN, Walk The Moon, and The Killers shall all be delighted at this new version as vocals are more crisper while the band builds off of their already massive sound.
“This project started with just me originally and a few demos. Then these songs got some exposure and I never expected the response they got. Then MONACO became a band and next thing you know MONACO became something bigger than myself. It became a family,” shared Davis. “We had a lot of crazy opportunities happening, from being courted by multiple PR Agencies, big film directors who worked with some of the biggest artists (One Direction, John Mayer, and The 1975 to name a few) looking to shoot our music videos, and booking agents who could get us into every major venue we wanted. Then the pandemic hit, and a lot of changes started happening with the band. Some changes were already happening, but things really began to change the longer the pandemic dragged out. Some of us like myself moved and took jobs to navigate tough circumstances, others found passions and careers they wanted to pursue. I felt like our fans never got the EP they deserved. I wasn’t sure if this was still going to even happen.”
“I wrote these songs telling a story about navigating relationships, love, learning how to trust, and what it’s like meeting the right one for you and what it’s like when they help you realize you are worthy of being loved completely and without inhibition. All of these songs were written about my wife and our journey. After moving back to my home on the East Coast, I found myself perfecting these original demos and the EP finally took form. Those familiar will recognize most of these songs, but they will notice there’s more maturity and a polished sound. I’m excited to say there will be more music in the future after this release!”
