Irish duo, Martellos, never fail to delight us, and their newest offering only proves how criminally underrated they are!
New track, “95 (Strawberry Blonde),” is the second single off of their upcoming debut EP and it’s not one to be missed! Fuzzy synths and lo-fi hip-hop beats provide the soundtrack to a spoken word vocal that poignantly narrates feeling at rock bottom on the bathroom floor.
Reminiscent of some mid-90s Moby meets the backdrop of an early Lorde track, “95 (Strawberry Blonde)” hits hard both emotionally and sonically.
“I wrote the song on the day of a family member’s anniversary. My sister had texted me to just say spare a wee thought for her and I said I would write something down. The day of remembrance for this terrible, tragic loss brought into focus what is important. I wrote it all down without a tune in mind and put it to the music Kev had written that evening.”
