London five-piece Margot are carving their place into the UK music scene with their dream-pop musings and we’re all about soul-warming indie music as winter creeps upon us.
“Coffee Stained Scars” is the band’s newest single discussing mental health struggles and what comes along with restraining oneself from talking about it. If you enjoyed the movie Lady Bird, set in ever so sunny California, you will be delighted to hear how Margot drew inspiration from it – more specifically, the scenes where a character’s drive home from work gives opportunity for quiet contemplation about life. It’s a beautiful notion within the movie and one that the band manages to bring back in their songwriting and production.
“‘Coffee Stain Scars’ is a middle-aged man’s wet-traffic-ridden journey, and his partner’s anxiety regarding his mental fortitude. I’ve had experience with adults of that age stoically withholding information in regards to their mental health and I’ve seen how this can affect friends and family. It’s desperation, it’s unconditional love, and a hope that things can turn around.” – says vocalist Alex Hannaway about the song.
Margot consists of Alex Hannaway (vocals), Ben Andrewes (drums), Albi Cleghorn (guitar), Rob Fenner (guitar and keys) and Michael Webb (bass). Their newest self-produced track “Coffee Stained Scars“ is out now!
