[LISTEN] Hothead Wave – “Too Much”

Nashville’s Hothead Wave – the project of singer/songwriter Lizzy Cruz – first dazzled us with her killer debut single, “Here,” back in January. If you loved her first offering, get ready to fall head over heels for new track, “Too Much.”

Chock full of loud, fuzzy guitars and 90’s alt-rock nostalgia, “Too Much” dives into Cruz’s struggle with social anxiety. If there ever was an anthem for the overthinkers, this is it, folks!

Hothead Wave is set to release a debut EP this fall!

“‘Too Much’ is about my struggle with social anxiety and the cycle of overthinking. I am naturally a pretty defiant person, but my anxiety can make me feel like a mess and fuel my self-doubt. Part of me justifies my forwardness, like ‘so what, this is who I am, take it or leave it.’ I hate superficial interactions. Yet, in the next moment, I find myself dissecting conversations as if my life depends on it. I think this comes from my desire to connect, so I try to get there quickly. I realize that my words may have not been received poorly. For all I know the other person was right there with me, of course that doesn’t stop me from wondering. ‘Too Much’ brings the audience into the cycle with me as I try to find peace in the uncertainty.”
