[LISTEN] Four Nights – “Grow So Cold”

If you loved our feature on Dublin’s Tanjier back in 2019, you’ll be delighted to hear lead singer Tommy Buckley’s new project, Four Nights! We fell in love with his debut, “Want You Always,” and new track, “Grow So Cold,” is definitely something to get excited about!

There’s nothing we love more here than 80’s-infused pop and “Grow So Cold” is the epitome of that notion and then some. Taking influence from indie-pop royalty The 1975, LANY, and Nightly, “Grow So Cold” was written during  the height of Irish lockdown back in April as Buckley was forced to halt a year’s worth of travel plans in Asia. Delving into the ending of a relationship as two people try to figure out where it all went south, the track shimmers and pops in all the right places despite a rather grim and bittersweet love story.

“This was the first song I wrote during lockdown that I loved musically,” shared Tommy. “The whole thing came very quickly. Similar to my first two, the song’s subject matter is straightforward and unambiguous. It’s about a relationship on thin ice and close to its end. The protagonist is reflecting on the lack of effort being invested, and how they can’t remember the moment, or moments, when things started to go bad.”
