As winter is going out in an unusually cold style and a snow day curled up at home is for the few lucky ones, all the rest of us can do is sooth our souls with sweet new music…and hot chocolate.
“Splinters” is only the debut release of London-based young talent Ellie Occleston but it’s already leaving strong impressions behind. Tinkling vocals colliding with relaxed piano chords, the emotionally filled track, produced by Jon Moon (Amy Winehouse, Florence and the Machine) puts Occleston somewhere along the lines of Birdy and LAYLA. The beauty and power of “Splinters” comes from digging deep into ones honest feelings via song writing without overcomplicating anything else on the production. It’s a truly captivating experience.
