Portland’s Days To Waste immediately reeled us in with his new single, “lilac,” and it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world follows suit!
The project of alt/pop songwriter Ben Willey, Days To Waste has an interesting backstory. Born into an atypical Christian household, music has been the backbone of Willey’s life. Diagnosed with ADHD during his childhood and feigning interest in school, Willey channeled all his energy into music, later starting his own YouTube channel which later catapulted him to new heights!
New single, “lilac” will transport listeners back to the days of Myspace when electro-pop was all the rage. Reminiscent of Owl City, nothing, nowhere and Neck Deep, “lilac” is a stunning moment of clarity for the singer.
“I feel like most of my songs in the past play off of a feeling of being lost, with no direction and struggling to understand who I am and where I belong,” shared Willey. “Well, ‘lilac’ explores the opposite side of that; finally feeling like I understand myself and where I’m supposed to be. Through a love I thought I’d lost I’ve fallen into a place of safety within myself.”
Days To Waste is set to head out on an East Coast tour with Epitaph Records’ sadeyes, kicking off on August 10. Dates here.
