New single, “Every Night,” delves into the intimacy of falling asleep on the one you love, giving the track a H.I.M. meets Rinse vibe we can’t get enough of!
“I wrote the song to my partner Estelle as a gift for our second anniversary. She’s a musician too and has often hinted that’s what she wanted. She has this little routine where she’ll say, “Oh nice the bed! It’s my favourite place,” and cuddle in close to me while we watch something. I’m often awake later than her as I have difficulty sleeping, so she’ll fall asleep holding my hand while I morbidly wonder about what happens if one of us dies first. Would I want to go first so I wouldn’t have to live with the pain of losing her or would I prefer she died first so she wouldn’t have to bare it. I was a little worried at first about putting something like that in the song, but she’s French so she fully understands the love and death connection! The song is full of little references she understands, but I kept them quite general, as I’m sure many others have similar situations. As another little surprise I used the drummer from her project Rob Dowsett on the track.”
