If I’m going to admit anything here it’s that I’m a sucker for music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Most of the bands I listen to on a daily basis consist of Rush, Fleetwood Mac and Heart, with the occasional Def Leppard or E.L.O song thrown in the mix. I’ve probably been listening to this music since quite literally before I was born. “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede was my jam way before Star Lord came around, just saying.
My mom, dad and aunt can be blamed for raising my brother and I on a lot of different genres of music. But we were always taught to have an open mind when it came to creating a library of music that we enjoy. Thinking back, that single lesson really shaped my views on music, what I listen to today and why I am so involved with music as a whole.
Now I know, I’m a black sheep to many. Only a handful of people know any of the bands I listen to. Unless it was in Guitar Hero or in “that one movie” people tend to glaze over as soon as I mention my favourite album, let alone my vinyl collection. I think I’ll write a post about that later on, but believe me when I say it’s extensive.
To me though, during those parts of time, music was the best it ever was. I still love music from this era too, obviously. But to have such a close connection to the music that was the starting point for so many other groundbreaking artists today is truly something.
Here lies a playlist of my top 12 favourite songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s for your listening pleasure! Who knows, maybe you’ll know a few!
