New York-based singer/songwriter, Parris Mitchell, just might be one of our favorite artists we’ve discovered this year! Crafting indie-pop hits with an R&B flare, Mitchell used the time to himself during the pandemic to step away from his touring rock band, Night Without Cars, to pursue his passion of writing and performing pop music. With only three tracks under his belt so far – the third being new release, “charger,” being our spotlight track today – we think we’ll be hearing a lot more about Mitchell very soon.
“charger” delves into modern day love and how technology intersects. While struggling to communicate on a dying phone during an intense moment in a fleeting relationship, the track goes through the motions of what we say versus what we wish we could say.
“I feel as if asking to borrow a charger has become the new ‘how’s the weather’ and I wanted to write something using that as a chorus while telling a story of someone’s desperate need to say I love you but no means of sending that message out.”
