Alt-pop band, HAUNTER, just might be your new obsession. Comprised of Lucy Lenoir, Mark Schroeder, Mike Ray, and Enoma Asowata, HAUNTER describe themselves as “a bunch of emo kids and one metalhead that ditched the loud guitars for big hooks and pop sensibilities.” We can get behind that.
The band’s debut single, “Love You Better,” is an electro-rock dream that listeners will fall head over heels for. Written from two different perspectives, the track delves into the all-too-familiar territory of falling too fast and getting burned in the process, unrequited or not.
“’Love You Better’ really started out as two semi-auto biographical stories. They were based off experiences that Lucy and I had with people we were interested in,” shared guitarist, Enoma. “Lucy was writing from the side of someone who had been through a whirlwind romance that burned bright, beautiful and fast. I was writing from the perspective of someone who was firmly placed in the friend zone but was unaware of it until it was spelled out for me, brutally. We wanted to find a way to bring the two narratives together. ‘Love You Better’ at its core is telling the story of what it’s like to enjoy the sudden rush of love, lust, regret and all the while being a hopeless romantic.”
