In the realm of music, whenever a band embarks on a major sound or genre switch, it tends to either get slammed or praised. In the case of Danish sibling duo, Alcabean, a change was what they needed in order to feel genuine…and they really don’t care what you think about it.
Comprised of brothers Victor and Julius Schack, Alcabean are set to release their first album, Confessions, on March 15. As telling as the title may be, the album delves into what it feels like to sink into mediocrity and the unsettling truths it may bring up when one decides they’ve had enough.
The byproduct of Victor and his nagging anxieties, Confessions is a telling yet relatable journey of honesty and all the fears that come with existential dread and stage fright.
“We were in the middle of everything when it happened. The whole thing suddenly seemed outrageously dishonest to me. I was playing Roskilde Festival, trying to act as if I was some sunglass-clad guitar hero, with lyrics that felt totally devoid of any real meaning. I felt vulnerable and out of balance with myself and my music,” shared Victor.
